Share Some Christmas Love for Healing and Happiness

During the holiday season it's easy to get caught up in the shop, cook, decorate, and rush mode. For some, there's more mourning than joy. We get all stressed and lose sight of 'the reasons for the season'.

With the sudden scary illness of my beloved French Bulldog, Louis, (a vaccine reaction?), my normal distracted rushing about came to a screeching halt. I am again reminded more deeply about what holidays and life are all about.

Sometimes in the hustle to do all the nice things we want to do for our loved ones we forget to give them the one thing they, and we, want most - quality time and meaningful connections together.

What does this have to do with health? Everything. Developing relationships and spending quality time with loved ones is one of the most healing things you can do for them and yourself. It reduces stress, releases healing hormones, and adds richness and years to your life. It doesn't have to cost a cent.

If your important relationships are strained then do what it takes to heal them. Forgive and find reasons to be grateful for those you love. Look beyond old hurts and grudges. Build bridges instead of walls.

For even greater joy, extend this love gifting beyond your circle. Make a donation of time or money to a worthy cause. Do random acts of kindness. Smile at the clerk, let a harried mother cut in line, visit those who alone or invite them to share your holiday.

This is just my belief, but I believe that all our pride, wounds, separateness, and ego die when we do. What remains and lives on is the love we share. My holiday wish for each of us is that we heal through and enjoy the gift of love this year.

Sometimes it does take the threat of losing a love one to appreciate the importance of love. I hope your beloved dog recovered, and may you have a wonderful Christmas.

Thanks Jennifer, he's much better than he was, but still has some more healing to do. Merry Christmas to you too. Val
