Easy Anxiety and Panic Relief Technique

Do you ever get so anxious about something that it takes you over the top? You know the feeling. You get light headed, maybe start to sweat and breathe shallower and faster. Your eyes don't seem to work right.  It feels like you are headed for a full-blown panic attack.  That's what would happen to me if I let myself get too worried about something. If you ever feel this way, you may want to try this technique. It's one of my favorite anxiety busters because you don't have to think much and it only takes a few seconds. It helps to balance your brain energy and ground you.

This technique "saved" me several years ago when I was on the verge of one of those anxiety attack before my first observation at a new job. Fortunately I had enough wits about me to run in the bathroom so I could "strike the pose" in private. I was still nervous, but the anxiety and feeling of sheer panic was greatly reduced.  I was able to get through the lesson and do alright. Although this technique is not new, I have modified it a bit to make it even more effective.

The Technique:

Cradle the back of your head just above your neck with one hand. This is where the limbic brain is, the part that activates the "fright-flight" response. Put the other hand across your forehead (the reasoning center). The base of your hand rests at the eyebrows, thumb and pinky spread across the hairline (if you don't have one, pretend:)) and remaining fingers on your head. Pull up slightly. This activates a few points including the stress release point on the forehead. This is very easy and natural, you've probably done it many times when you slap your forehead and say, "OY!"

While in this position, take a few deep breaths from the abdomen while briefly putting your attention on your feet (to bring the energy down and help ground you) and on your forehead.

You may want to practice a few times so when you need to take the edge off, you have it in your bag of tricks!

Watch Val's video demonstrating this technique and more.

Thanks Val. I had a few eye operations, and found it all very painful and frightening. Since that time I am inclined to get those feelings you speak of,

especially if I am stressed or tired. Its a fear of losing control I think, relating back to the surgery, during which I was awake.

As a man, it can be a bit harder to speak about, so I am glad you wrote this article.

Best wishes,

Joseph

Hi Joseph,

I hear you, I'm not a big fan of those "keep you awake" operations.  May I suggest you try TAT or EFT on this?  If your anxiety is coming from your operation it should be quick and simple to "neutralize" it permanently.  You can contact me directly or google to find the links since I can't include them here.
Both sites offer free manuals you can use if you want to try it yourself.  TAT is probably easier and may do the trick.  Please let me know if you try this.

Thanks Val.  I will look up the TAT and EFT. I am having good results with meditation and angel therapy.
                                 Best wishes,
